To all our great American servicemen and women:
I am just a guy in San Antonio, Texas, working a job, caring for friends and family, and sometimes selfishly indulging myself.
But then I'll read a story in the newspaper about what life is like for you in Afghanistan or Iraq, or wherever you might be stationed.
And I realize that it is because of you and your comrades, past and present, that I am not worried that I'll be arrested for what I say, for what I believe, or what I write.
I am not worried that someone will come for me in the middle of the night to take me away for belonging to the wrong political party.
And I am not worried that someone will come to kill me because of my ethnicity or because I belong to a certain clan or family, or tribe.
I pray for many blessings and protection for you, your comrades and your families.
I wish I had greater, deeper, stronger words to say to you what I feel. But the best I can do is this:
Thank you.
